Process

How a project runs

  1. We listen

    Before anything else we sit down and find out what you actually do, who you do it for, and what you want people to feel about it.

  2. We draw first

    Pencil before pixels. Sketching is faster, looser and far more honest. Bad ideas die cheaply and good ones show up early.

  3. Then the computer

    Only once the idea is right do we build it out, refine the typography, and hand you files that work everywhere you need them.

The studio

Since 1999

Outer Graphics is a small design studio in East Lansing, right across from the MSU campus. We have been at it since 1999, more than twenty-five years of graphic design and marketing expertise for the businesses of greater Lansing.

The people

  • Carrie Schaeffer

    Owner & Lead Designer

    Founded the studio in 1999 and still takes the first pencil to every identity that goes out the door.

  • Cait Schneider

    Senior Designer

    Turns a rough sketch into a finished system, and will happily argue with you about kerning.

  • Bonnie Kapushinski

    Signage Master

    Knows her stuff and is unfailingly kind about it. If it has to survive a Michigan winter, she has already thought of it.
